![]() Residents' CouncilThe purpose of the Residents’ Council at Cliffside Rehabilitation & Residential Health Care Center is to serve as a vehicle for the residents to voice their concerns, exercise their rights and protect their interests by participating in the decisions and tasks which affect their everyday lives, both in the facility and in the community. Membership in the Council is open to all residents of the facility. The Council meets as often as the residents deem necessary, which currently is once monthly. A designated representative, currently the director of therapeutic recreation, chairs the Council. The Council invites members of supervisory staff at the request of Council members. The recreation director, along with the director of social services, serve as liaison persons between the Council and other administrative staff. Administration assures that any complaints, problems or issues reported by the council are addressed. Officers from among the residents are elected annually. Family MeetingsWe find that scheduled group informational meetings promote channels of communication, offer support and more effectively integrate the family and/or care-givers in the therapeutic environment. Social service, physicians and/or other professional disciplines give presentations and participate in a dialogue with interested parties.
