![]() Therapeutic RecreationThe goal of therapeutic recreation is to provide resources and opportunities for recreation to our patients in order to improve their health and well-being, help them cope with symptoms of illness and loss of function, deal with additional free time, and to restore their dignity. At Cliffside, our trained recreational therapists provide entertainment-based large group activities, such as parties, trips and bingo games. They also provide individualized, outcome-based therapeutic interventions, such as crafts and foreign language groups. Fitness and movement activities, including tai chi, sensory & cognitive stimulation programs, and activities designed to promote social interaction skills and self-expression are also part of Cliffside’s recreation program. Members of the recreation staff at Cliffside speak several languages, including English, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, Korean and Chinese. Cliffside recreation programs provide a balanced amount of challenge and stimulation to our clients, enough to help maintain or improve functioning, but not so much as to cause frustration. As with all of our programs, the goal is to improve the quality of life of our clients.
