Alzheimer's & Dementia Programs

At Cliffside, we offer a specialized program for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our environment is safe and secure, but restraint-free; a wandering alarm system ensures that residents are safe while providing them with a greater degree of mobility and independence.

Our staff is trained with frequent in-services on issues surrounding the care needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and each resident is evaluated by an interdisciplinary team, which develops care plans for each individual.

Through speech, occupational, physical therapies and specially designed activities, the care team helps residents communicate and accomplish daily activities such as grooming, dressing, and eating. Our staff works with families to identify significant events, people and places that are unique to each resident, and to decorate residents’ rooms with familiar pictures and small items from home.

Recreational opportunities, such as Snoezelen therapy, gardening, and cooking are planned to help facilitate recognition and communication. Finger foods are provided, so residents can handle them easily, despite confusion.
The Alzheimer’s and dementia programs at Cliffside gives families the peace of mind and knowledge that their loved one is being care for in an ideal setting.
